Monday Mashup #50 - Christmas Sled...

Christmas Sled

Good morning and welcome to Monday Mashup.  Today I have a 3d tree decoration for Christmas in July.

You may have seen the little Christmas sled I made a week or so ago as part of a blog hop but mainly as a display piece for my Christmas in July event which took place over the weekend.

I made one for each of the attendees and personalised them with their name which hung from their kit bags.  They loved them.

The original sleds were made using lollysticks and woodstain but I wanted to show an alternative for this video so I have used Early Espresso reinker and the Whisper White ink refill.  This was a bit of an experiment for a vintage look which has turned out to be a grey colour which I love.

The decoration on the original is made with the fern from the Iconic Dies and holly from the Christmas Trimmings dies.  For the vintage one I have used some real pine cones and flower stamens for the berries.

I painted a watered down layer of Early Espresso ink followed by watered down Whisper White ink to achieve the vintage look.  The snow is Shimmery White Embossing Paste.

You could make these any colour you wish if you have a colour themed tree.  I am going to make a few sets of these for small Christmas gifts, personalised with their names.

I have recorded a video of how it was made here.

I hope you like this little decoration and may give it a go for yourself.  I would love to see your versions.

Have a lovely week.

Jo

  1. You have the most lovely cards and projects - thank you for sharing. Can I ask where you got the real mini pinecones?
