Ink & Share Scrapbook Blog Hop - LOVE...

Brilliant Wings

Good afternoon and welcome to the Ink & Share Scrapbook February Blog Hop.  This month we are creating with the theme LOVE!

Love can mean so many things, love we have for people, items, memories, pets, the list goes on so the theme is actually quite broad.

I was going through some of my late mum's boxes recently and came across this amazing photograph of my mum's parents on their wedding day.  I remember her telling me how my grandma had made her own wedding dress.  She was a court dressmaker and the dress is just beautiful with layers and layers of lace.

I knew then that I wanted to create my page about LOVE using this gorgeous photograph, the original of which is on thick board so I took a photograph of the picture so I could size it for my page.

I have very little memory of my granddad as he unfortunately died when I was aged around 5 but I do remember one story (one of many!) that my mum always told me how my granddad used to walk miles and miles with me in the pram so much so that the pram required new tyres!  (I was the third sibling to use the pram it has to be said!)

I started my page by drawing a large heart on a scrap of paper which I then used as a mask on my page.  I splattered the edges of the heart with Gray Granite, Basic Gray, Memento Black inks and then finally splattered it with some of the Frost White Shimmer Paint and set aside to dry.  Once dry I sponged around the edges of the heart with Basic Gray ink so it stood out a bit more.

I cut lots of butterflies from the brand new Brilliant Wings dies which you can purchase from 2 March in Petal Pink, So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam and Seaside Spray.  I lightly inked the edges of the wings to add some depth to them.

I added some lace to the edge of my mounted photograph to mimic the lace in that beautiful dress, arranged everything on my page before sticking down and adding some embellishments to complete my page.

I hope you like my page today, I love scrapping the old photographs, they are always so beautiful and I have just noticed the size of the bouquet, that must have been very heavy!

Karen is up next and I know she will have something beautiful to share with us today.  Click on the next button to go direct to Karen's blog or a list of all participants is shown below.

Happy Sunday!
