Welcome to the Stamp 'n Hop August Blog Challenge! Today we have a colour challenge for you and quite an interesting colour challenge at that!
I must confess when I saw this colour combo my first thoughts were ooo nice colours then my immediate next thought was, what am I going to do with those!!!! Sometimes it is really good to think outside of the box and a challenge like this can then become quite fun.
I couldn't resist digging out the Seal of Approval stamp set from the July - December Mini Catalogue. I loved this set the moment I saw it.
I started by masking the top part of my card and using Blending Brushes, created the sea using Balmy Blue ink with a little bit of Basic Grey mixed in to make it a bit darker. I then masked the sea and worked on the sky, this time a lot lighter. I then used Mango Melody to create the sun going down.
I removed the masks and then blended the edges of the card to make them darker with Balmy Blue and a little bit more Basic Gray.
I then stamped the seals peeking out of the water in Basic Gray ink by placing a piece of paper over the bottom of the seal so only the heads peeped on to the page. I then added a little bit more Mango Melody for the sun reflection and darkened the seals' eyes with a Basic Gray Marker.
I stamped the sentiment on to Basic White cardstock in Basic Grey ink before cutting out and adding to the top of the background. I also stamped two hearts from the Ringed With Nature stamp set in Mango Melody, to compliment the sentiment.
I stamped the water ripples on to the water and added some white accents using the Whisper White reinker.
I had so much fun making this card, aren't those seals the cutest!!!?
I cannot wait to see what everyone else has created with this combo. You can follow the hop by clicking on the next button. Cheryl is up next.
Have a great weekend!
