Ink.Stamp.Share October Blog Hop - Tic Tac Toe...

Poinsettia Petals

Welcome to the Ink.Stamp.Share October Blog Hop.  This month we have a tic-tac-toe challenge.  What's that I hear you ask???  Think noughts and crosses.  We have a grid of nine squares with trigger words in them.  We can choose a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of trigger words and create our project around it.

So here is our grid and I have chosen the right vertical column of Blue - Square - Christmas.

Poinsettia Petals, Sparkle of the Season

I started with a SQUARE card and cut two further square layers.  I have used the beautiful Sparkle of the Season stamp set to create my background in Balmy Blue and silver embossed ferns.

I then stamped and silver heat embossed three Poinsettias from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set.  I coloured the leaves of the Poinsettia in Balmy Blue ink using a flooding technique where you water each leaf and drop in some reinker and allow it to find its own way in the puddle of water.

Once they were dry I fussy cut them out and being Christmas, I cannot resist a bit of sparkle so I covered the whole poinsettia in Versamark ink and used Heat & Stick Powder, which is similar to embossing powder, but once heated it becomes sticky and allowed me to sprinkle the whole surface in glitter.

The gems in the centre of the poinsettias are coloured using the Night of Navy Dark Stampin' Blend.

I cannot wait to see what every one has created and which line of the tic-tac-toe has been chosen.  Annette is up next and I know she will have something beautiful to share with us today.

Happy Stampin'

  3. Jo, this card is so pretty with the varying tones of blue and the sparkle from the glitter, just gorgeous! I love learning a new technique, I would love you to make a video for this card and show us how you did the poinsettia's from start to finish and the process of putting it all together. Oh and a big "Hello!" from here in Rotorua, New Zealand.
