Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Sept 2020 - Favourite Season...

Good morning and welcome to the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop for September.  You are joining me and demonstrators from all over the World to celebrate our Favourite Season.

I have two favourite seasons, Spring as everything begins to appear in the garden and brighter days but also Autumn because I love the colours, falling leaves and chilly nights.  But today I have decided to choose the season I love creating for and that has to be the Christmas Season.  I love the build up to Christmas with the lights, glitter, sparkle, excitement, more glitter ..... lol

I have created a card which grew from the original pop up cube box which has been doing the rounds of late.  I originally created this card for my Niece's 30th birthday which you can see at the end of this post and thought it would be fun to recreate it with a Christmas theme and using the amazing returning Feels Like Frost papers.

It is simple to make albeit time consuming and I have recorded a video to show how it was made.  In my excitement of recreating the card, I may have omitted to provide some of the measurements for the layers but these can be found in the video description.

The card does require a large square envelope or box but it folds flat for sending.

This is the original card I made which inspired this design.

And this is the box I made to send it.

I hope you like my project today and you will give it a go.

You can follow the hop by clicking on the link below and don't forget to leave a comment, we love to receive your feedback.

Happy Craftin'

Jo

  1. First of all wow. I am a fellow demonstrator in Jacksonville Fl USA and I am blown away by the beauty and class of your card. Second, do you know what size envelope this card would fit into? I am so impressed with your talent and thank you for sharing. Janice.

    1. 18 cm = 7.08661 inches, 19 cm = 7.48 inches. On the 19 cm side you need a tab for securing the box. I converted the measurements to 7" by 7.5" for the cm measurements, to make the rest of the box work in inches. The finished card is 7" by 7" (the tab for gluing is 1/2")

    2. Hi Janice thank you for your lovely comments. This card is 18cm square completed. Debra has added some imperial measurements above and there are alternative imperial measurements in the video description too for an 8 x 8 card. Any measurement will work provided it is easily divisible by 4. I have a desire to make a Diddy one lol! Have fun and please ask if I can help with anything x

  2. I so loved your card that I have spent the better part of an afternoon converting to inches all the measurements of every piece and how to even lay them out when cutting the DSP and the card stock to best utilize the paper. I am casing this one. Thank you! I do not have the stamp set you used, so I am going to use Winter Woods tree and Still Scenes sentiment. My hat is off to you for a wonderful card!

    1. Thank you Connie, it is one of those projects which is easier to see in the video. All parts are identical and made the same way and then stuck together. Hope this helps x

  8. Wonderful card, Jo!! I've made the smaller versions of the 3D cube card but would love to make your card for my daughter's 40th birthday. You mentioned you added imperial measurements to your video but I watched to the end and they weren't mentioned. Do you have written measurements available? Please? Thanks for sharing your amazing creation!

  10. This is a lovely card Jo, thanks for sharing. I have previously made the basic cube cards but love how yours tumble. I have made it for friends 70th birthday and am thrilled how it has turned out. I'm not really a stamper but used some from my stash that worked. I have now made it again for my daughters 40th birthday with 3cm cubes. Just the final decoration to do but am pleased with this too. Thank you for inspiring me, I hoping my mojo is returning. Look forward to your next project xxx

  18. OK... I made it! It turned out wonderfully! I added a few more dsp to mine a bit differently but basically the same. My 16 year old grandson loved it! He took pics of it and send it to friends!
Most of the dsp was gold or had gold in it. It just glowing! He was so pleased and so was I! Now, how can I top that card for next year!

  21. I've just finished making this card. It is very time consuming but the effort is well worth it. I made my card to give to someone who is having a baby girl. It was pink, silver & white. It looked quite impressive I must say!
Thankyou so much for the video it made it so much easier to make.
