Monday Mashup #36 featuring

Tasteful Touches, Forever Fern

Good morning and welcome to my blog, it's Monday again and time for another Monday Mashup.  Today I am sharing a card using two of my favourite stamp sets, Tasteful Touches and Forever Fern, both of which, I am very pleased to say, will be staying with us for at least another year!

I love the detail on the leaves in the Forever Fern stamp set but I wanted the opportunity to paint the leaves for myself so I started by stamping the leaves in Soft Sea Form ink on to Fluid 100 Watercolour paper.  The colour is really feint which gave me a base to work to.  I then watercoloured the leaves in Old Olive ink.  The darker leaves were coloured using a mixture of Garden Green and Mossy Meadow ink.

Similarly for the flower, I used Merry Merlot ink for the petals and Bumblebee for the centre.  Once the flower had dried, I used the Soft Suede marker to add some dot detail to the centre.

I love playing with ink as it is quite unpredictable but you can get some amazing effects.  For the background on this card I added a couple of drops of Gray Granite ink to a waterproof surface and spritzed it with some water.  Using a piece of acetate I picked up some of the ink and transferred it to the Fluid 100 paper.  I used my heat gun to speed up the drying of the background.

Once dry I splattered the background with some drops of water, then some of the Gray Granite ink at full strength and then slightly watered down, drying between each colour.  Once the card was put together I splattered the whole card and floral arrangement with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

I added a few of the Frosted & Epoxy Droplets to the card and stamped and embossed my greeting before fussy cutting and attaching to my card front.

I find painting so relaxing. I used exactly the same technique to paint my flower and leaves as I did to paint the poinsettia in the latter part of last year, which you can view here.

I hope you like my card today, it was a real joy to make and would love you to try it for yourself.

All of the products I used to create my card can be purchased from my online shop by clicking on the links below.

Have a lovely week,

Jo
