Good morning from Norfolk in the UK and thank you for joining me today for the February Colour Combo Blog Hop.
Today I am hopping with demonstrators from all over the World with one theme in mind, to use just three colours
SOFT SEA FOAM - MOSSY MEADOW - POPPY PARADE
These colour challenges really make you think and sometimes it is hard to decide how to use them but I knew instantly I saw these colours, exactly what I wanted to use.
I have chosen the beautiful Climbing Roses bundle from the Spring/Summer catalogue. I have had this set a while but haven't yet had a chance to play with it.
I am no artist (far from it!) but I do like to dabble with a bit of watercolour painting.
I stamped the image in 'stamped off' Sahara Sand ink so you can barely see it on to normal Whisper White cardstock (I prefer to use this as opposed to watercolour paper so I have a little more control over the paintbrush!). I usually stamp an image next to it in case I cannot see the image properly.
I then use an Aquapainter but I don't fill it with water, I use it virtually dry with a little water to mix my colours as I go, like a traditional paintbrush.
Here are some work in progress pictures...
This first picture shows how I tackle the painting, I always lay a thin layer of colour down first on separate leaves/petals, ones that don't touch so the colours don't run into each other and I let every section dry before I add further layers.
This picture shows the image developing gradually but the process is the same, I keep going back to separate areas to add more layers.
This third image shows how the flowers have been built up with colour and the leaves coming along (notice the obligatory green finger print top left!!) TOP TIP - always use a clean piece of tissue to protect your image. Fortunately I was cutting this out so I wasn't too concerned.
And here is my finished card...
I hope you have liked my project today and I have inspired you to get your paintbrushes out.
Happy Stampin'
Jo
