The Chicken or the Egg Chocolate Box - How to....

Happy Valentine's Day....

As promised, I am back today to share with you the Chocolate Egg Box we made at yesterday's class.  It is made from just one sheet of card with a contrasting strip for the belly band so a cost effective Easter gift.  You can make individual ones by simply following the instructions but for just one strip, instead of the three or why not make it for six eggs by making two and joining them at the bottom?  The possibilities are endless.

Cut a piece of Hello Honey cardstock to measure its full A4 length x 15cm.
Score down from the long edge at 1cm, 5cm, 11cm, 14.75cm, 18.5cm, 24.5cm and 28.5cm.

Mark and draw feint lines down from the short edge at 5cm and 10cm.

On the reverse of the 1 ½ circle punch, mark, in pencil, its 90o angles, they are just a guide so you can do it by eye.

Starting at one end of your card, line up the side marks on the punch with the first score line and central in each marked box and punch three part circles across, as shown.

Repeat at the other end of your card.

Next punch full circles in the central panel, lining up the central score line with the lines marked on your punch.  NB You cannot reach the central panel so you will need to draw around one of your punched circles and cut this out by hand – don’t panic you will not see this circle when put together.

Rub out the pencil marks.

Using the large oval punch, extend one set of the circles on one end, as shown.  NB Again you will need to mark and cut out the central one by hand as the punch cannot reach!

Starting at one end, fold on the score lines, as shown.

Trim the end ‘tabs’ on each end, as shown, so the tabs are straight.

Stick red tape on to the tabs and stick in place, as shown.

Repeat for the other side.  You can now insert your eggs.

Cut two strips of Old Olive cardstock to measure 15cm x 2cm.  Cut a wobbly edge with normal scissors and then cut a fringe with the fringe scissors and stick to your box.

Cut a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock to measure 23cm x 5cm.  Score at 1cm, 7cm, 12cm and 18cm.  Wrap around your egg box and glue in place.  NB not too tight as it needs to slide on and off.

Cut a piece of DSP to measure 9.5cm x 2cm and cut or punch banners in each end.

Cut a piece of Old Olive cardstock to measure 4.5cm2, Blackberry Bliss to measure 4.25cm2 and Whisper White 4cm2.

Colour a part of the Watercolor Wash stamp in Pumpkin Pie, Hello Honey and Old Olive stripe and press the Whisper White square on to it.  Stamp the Happy Easter in Blackberry Bliss, as shown.

Cover the square in Versamark ink and then heat and stick powder, heat and add glitter and then briefly heat again to set the glitter.

Mount all pieces, as shown, on to the belly band.

Punch a Hello Honey Petite Flower punch and one Pumpkin Pie little flower.  Shape the flower and middle piece and sponge the edges of the flower in Hello Honey ink.  Add this to the belly band and add some glitter to the centre of the flower.

Stamp two of the chicks in Basic Black onto Whisper White cardstock and paint using Hello Honey ink.  Allow to dry and then add Pumpkin Pie to the feet and beak.  Cut out and stick to either side of your belly band, as shown.

Happy Stampin' folks, I would love to see your own creation.
