Mr B's Birthday...

It was Mr B's birthday yesterday, we had a lovely day at the zoo, a bite of lunch followed by takeaway last evening, a perfect day with my best friend.

I wanted to share with you the card and pressie I made for Mr B but had to wait as he reads my updates!

So here we are, this is the card I made, inspired by his new shed on his allotment.

 

The door latch opened and inside was a birthday cake and a Happy Birthday.

Mr B had already had his main present, a lovely bird table for the front garden which already has some frequent flyers!  As most men, he is particularly difficult to buy for so I wanted to give him some money so he could make his own choice but of course I couldn't just give him the money, could I?  So I found this fab template on-line from Lorri Heiling here.

 

See the notes sticking out of the exhaust, he loved it.

I have finally got my hands on the new catalogues and some wonderful new goodies so watch this space for some sneak peaks of the new products in the next couple of weeks.

Pleasant Poppies....

I promised to share with you a couple of birthday cards I made recently but have had to wait for the said birthdays to pass so finally, I can share these with you.

There has been so much going on in the Stampin Up! world over the last couple of weeks that I can barely keep up with it. 

I am now eagerly awaiting the launch of our brand new catalogue which goes lives on 1 July, I have seen it and you are gonna love it.  My copy is in fact winding its way across the channel as we speak.  Sorry I should stop teasing, you will have them soon enough.

One of the new products launching in the new catalogue are some fabulous new pens, I cannot wait to get my hands on these and the stamp set I am highlighting today will be perfect for these so once I have them and have had a chance to play I shall post some comparisons for you.

The following two cards have been made using the Write Marker Pens.

 

This card was made using Strawberry Slush as the base colour for the

poppies, I added a little Raspberry Ripple to add depth.

 

 

 This one was made using a combination of Pool Party and Island Indigo. 

I cut these poppy heads out and mounted them using 3d foam.

Today is a special day...

I promised in my last post that I would post the class details from the weekend but before that, today is a very special day as our dear Vicki married the lovely Ted making all Vicki's dreams come true.  I know you will all join me in wishing Vicki and Ted congratulations on their big day and wishing them a lovely, safe and trouble free driving honeymoon.  I cannot wait to see the photos.

I am sure Vicki will share some photos with us upon her return from honeymoon.

So, without further ado, here is what we got up to at the weekend (in amongst the celebrations!).

I chose to use the lovely Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper.  I love the softness of the colours of these papers Wisteria Wonder, Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzazz and Basic Gray.  As much as I love these colours, they are not colours I would normally work with so it was a challenge on my part but an enjoyable one.

I started with this watercolour background card using ink direct on to the acrylic block, spritzing a little and stamping direct on to watercolour paper.  Every example was slightly different but they were all gorgeous.  I used the Just Because sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts.

 

I then created this card using the Chevron Punch, intertwining two chevron strips to create a lattice for the flowers, using the Happy Big Day sentiment from Chalk Talk.  Oh and I nearly forgot, the dotty background was made by inking up some bubble wrap!

 

 

For the third card, I wanted to use the paper with the pretty circles on it.  This paper is so pretty in its own right, I wanted to keep this one quite simple.  I used the Ribbon Border Punch to create a pretty edge around the chevron oval, Chalk Talk for the sentiment and the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder for the background.

 

 

Finally we made a pretty bag to hold the cards and envelopes which would make a lovely gift.  The bag was inspired from a recent training event organised by the lovely Monica Gale.

Here Comes the Bride....

Wow what a fantastic day we had yesterday.  It was our monthly craft class but it was a very special one, our dear crafty sister Vicki is getting married, we are all so excited for her so we had a few surprises lined up.

This is the lovely lady in question ...

Vicki is marrying her long time partner Ted on Wednesday 21 May...

So the day started by dressing Vicki in suitable attire and every lady was given a brooch that I made that read "Friend of the Hen" (Vicki loves her chickens so it seemed very appropriate!).  Here are the brooches...

 



Vicki was then presented with an array of cards and gifts and here are they...

Can you believe Lesley cut those fringed flowers on the top of the box by hand!

The next card is from the lovely Sue and Harry.

 

And this one is from the lovely Wendy, what a fab idea.

 

This next one is from the lovely Coral, a box in a card with a difference, it is in fact a box within a box, will have to have a go at one of those.

Then finally, here is the car I made for Vicki and Ted, they are honeymooning in their classic cars so it seemed very appropriate.

Oh yes and I nearly forgot, this is the wedding card I made for them.

 

We also had some gorgeous cupcakes made by Wendy with bells, doves, hearts and roses, all personalised with Vicki and Ted's initials but stupidly I didn't take a picture of these before they were eaten!!!

I just want to wish Vicki and Ted health and happiness for the future and hope you have a wonderful time on Wednesday.

Card Candy Swap....

As some of you know, I recently co-ordinated a Card Candy Swap with nine of my fellow demonstrators.  The idea of card candy is that we all pre-select one stamp set we would like to work with and we create a minimum of four pieces of 'Card Candy' just like you buy in the shops, only better!  We also had free use of sentiment stamps.  So without further ado, here is what we came up with.

This week's weekly deals...

Happy Engagement...

Today I want to share with you a card I have just made from my nephew and his girlfriend who recently became engaged.  He kind of sprang it on us so it had to be something quick but for those that know me I don't do quick so here is what I came up with inspired from one of my many searches on Pinterest!!!  (which typically I now cannot find to give credit to).

Anyhow here are a couple of close ups.

 

It is a triple easel card made with the Heart Framelits and it was surprisingly quick to make.  I think this would make a lovely wedding card in white or cream.

 

Here is what it looks like finished and it all lays flat to fit in a normal A5 envelope.
