December Class...

I am back, that is three days on the trot, miracles do happen!

Today I want to share with you the monthly class for December.  We, as a group, decided that we had had enough Christmas creating and opted for a more traditional theme, flowers!

I love the Wild About Flowers stamp set in the Annual Catty and thought it would go nice with the Into the Woods DSP in the Autumn/Winter Catty.

I decided to make a card gift box, that is a box card with a drawer underneath for a little gift or maybe a few sweets or even some notelets.

Here is what we made:

And here is a little tutorial for the box card:

  1. Cut a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock to measure 25cm x 20cm.  Score and fold at 2cm and 4cm on all edges.  Cut and fold, as shown.
  2. Before assembling your box, fold over the short ends and punch through both layers to cut a 'finger hole', using the 1" circle punch.  Assemble your box first sticking the small tabs to form your corners and then the long edges to reinforce your box.

  3. Cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock to measure 28.2cm x 21cm.  Score down the long edge at 2.1cm, 14.1cm and 16.2cm.  Score down from the short edge at 2cm and 19cm.
  4. Cut a further piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock to measure 17cm x 16.1cm.  Score down from the long edge at 2cm and 4.1cm.
  5. Glue the two pieces together, to the first score line of the smaller piece, it should look like this.
  6. Glue down the side edges of the larger Rich Razzleberry piece, as shown.  Make sure you burnish the sides really well as you need them to lay as flat as possible to enable the drawer to run properly.
  7. Glue your box together, as shown.  It is best to place the Daffodil Delight box inside the folded cover as you glue it to ensure a good fit.  It will be tight as you need it to hold the drawer in place however, if the drawer is not moving easily, re-burnish the inside edges and it should begin to move easier.
  8. You can now decorate your box.
Happy crafting!
